Uniform Policy

We believe that student attire affects the learning environment of the school campus. Students at each Alliance campus must adhere to a strict uniform policy. The specific uniform required for Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy #8 is as follows:

R 6th graders’ school uniform

  • Light blue polo shirt with official Alliance logo only
  • Black pants, shorts, or skirts (no denim/jeans & no rips/holes)
  • Light blue sweater with official Alliance logo
  • Solid dark-colored belt (no decorative buckle) – optional
  • Solid color undershirts only
  • Any color backpack, but no tagging/writing on the backpack

R 7th graders’ school uniform

  • Light grey polo shirt with official Alliance logo only
  • Black pants, shorts, or skirts (no denim/jeans & no rips/holes)
  • Light Gray sweater with official Alliance logo
  • Solid dark-colored belt (no decorative buckle) – optional
  • Solid color undershirts only
  • Any color backpack, but no tagging/writing on the backpack

R 8th graders’ school uniform

  • Dark blue polo shirt with official Alliance logo only
  • Black pants, shorts, or skirts (no denim/jeans & no rips/holes)
  • Dark Blue sweater with official Alliance logo
  • Solid dark-colored belt (no decorative buckle) – optional
  • Solid color undershirts only
  • Any color backpack, but no tagging/writing on the backpack

R Physical education uniform for all grades

  • A grey t-shirt with school logo
  • Black shorts
  • Tennis shoes only (since other types of footwear are a safety hazard for students while running or participating in fitness activities)

The physical education uniform is only to be worn for P.E. Students will be required to change back into the school uniform when the class ends each day. All students taking physical education courses are required to “dress” for physical education every day. A supervised changing area with separate areas for males and females will be available.

R Important: The following uniform requirements apply to all students.

  • Uniform items, including pants and shirts, must be no larger than one size of the student’s regular clothing size.
  • Inappropriately tight and/or short clothing is not acceptable.
  • Shorts and skirts may be no higher than 3” above the knee.
  • The official Alliance logo uniform black sweatshirt is highly recommended. However, if a student does not wish to purchase this sweatshirt, he/she may choose to wear a plain, black sweater or jacket of his/her own selection. This outerwear must meet the following guidelines:
    • Absolutely no logos or designs
    • Must be solid black with no other colors
    • It may have a zipper in front, or it can be a crewneck or hoodie. If the student wears a hoodie, the hood may not be worn on campus.
  • Head/hair accessories such as hats, bandanas, and beanies are not to be worn.
  • Earrings are permitted; however, only flat backings (no spikes are allowed) and “plugs” and earrings may be no larger than 1 centimeter in diameter.
  • Any attire that may be a distraction will be confiscated. Distracting attire includes but is not limited to accessories such as facial piercings, extra clothing pieces, and excessive and/or large pieces of jewelry.
  • All uniform shirts will be tucked in for the entire instructional day.

The following clothing items are expressly prohibited for all students and will result in a parent conference:

  • Sweatpants or pajamas
  • Jeans of any color
  • Low-rise and/or hip-hugger pants
  • Caps, hats, or bandanas
  • Articles of clothing worn inside out
  • Any clothing that does not properly cover the body
  • Any clothing that may be construed as having gang affiliation (colored shoelaces, initialed belt buckles, cut-out belts, “sagging”/oversized clothing, etc.)
  • Shoes with open toes or heels

Out-Of-Uniform Consequences

Parents will be contacted immediately when their student is not adhering to the uniform policy described above. If a student is out of uniform, parents will be asked to bring the student a change of clothes. Students are expected to be responsible for coming to school in uniform prepared to learn and to check their own attire. Uniform checks will be conducted routinely by all staff. Students who are not in compliance with the uniform policy will be addressed on an individual basis by the administration.
