On May 1, 2018, ACRMA8 parents engaged in discourse around forming an English Learner Advisory Committee (now known as English Learner Parent Committee) composed of 51% or more parents of English Learners (EL) or designating the School Site AdvisoryCouncil to function as the advisory committee. Parents voted for the ELAC to be formed, which is in line with California Education Code 52176, which requires each school with twenty-one or more English Learners establish an ELAC. The ELAC is an advisory committee which advises the school on programs and services to EL students and on strategies to engage parents in support of their child’s education.
