Young Mi Kim joined the Alliance in 2009 after several years teaching in South Los Angeles and New York City. She was a founding science teacher at a high performing Alliance high school and then moved into an administrative role in 2014 to become a founding administrator of Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy 8. Ms. Kim earned her administrative credential from Loyola Marymount University and California State University - Los Angeles. She also holds a Masters of Arts in Education from Claremont Graduate University and received her Bachelors in Biology and Sociology from Pomona College. She believes access to a high quality education is a right for all children and leads with this in mind as she works with her staff and children. She also believes in supporting the whole child and addressing a child's social, emotional, mental and physical health needs.
