Young Mi Kim joined the Alliance nine years ago after several years teaching in South Los Angeles and New York City. She was a founding science teacher at a high performing Alliance high school and then moved into an administrative role four years ago to become a founding administrator of Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy 8. As an educator, Ms. Kim taught high school biology and AP Biology, with many of her students passing the AP exam. Through her teaching experience, Ms. Kim finds important that schools support all scholars in building strong literacy skills in order to close the achievement gap. Ms. Kim earned her administrative credential from Loyola Marymount University and California State University - Los Angeles. She also holds a Masters of Arts in Education from Claremont Graduate University and received her Bachelors in Biology and Sociology from Pomona College.
